The Psychic Potential Among Average People: Page 6
One last problem could be the environment. It might have been better to hold the trials in a more controlled environment. On the other hand, a controlled environment could also impede people's natural abilities by putting them on edge and creating stress.
If these problems could be completely overcome, the use of the ability to detect this energy could span across a multitude of fields. Imagine some day that the medical profession could diagnose people by simply running a hand over the patient to feel for abnormalities and then orders tests only for the area the disturbance was felt, (Elash, 1997) thus saving the patient thousands of dollars in medical fees. There is even the literature to suggest that cancers can be detected using ancient energy sensing techniques such as Reiki or Tai Chi, (Barrett, 1998). What if one day there are self-exams for the entire body to check for cancer as simple breast self-exams are today?
In the field of psychology, the benefits could be astounding. Since it has been said that emotional states can affect energy patterns, psychologists could be able to pinpoint areas in the body where stress, anger, and hostility are stored and remove them allowing quicker treatments to the psychological roots of many problems. They could even diagnose physical abnormalities such as schizophrenia by being able to detect certain previously unknown tell tale disruptions in a person's energy field. For that matter, psychologists could even use this as an screening tool to find out what exactly the patient's emotional state is, saving valuable time in cases such as depression or a bipolar disorder.
In conclusion, I think that due to its amazing potential, more research money should be allocated to this area even if, overall, early results look somewhat less than promising.
